Art exhibitions are a fantastic place to witness both modern and ancient arts. Artistic culture is seen through the pages of history; from all kinds of people all around the world.
We continue to discover new stuff; people see an infinite scope for studying arts of different kinds. Arts is not considered a single subject, instead it’s a feeling, an emotion, a connection. As Correctional Centres aim to reduce recidivism in the community, it is through art programs like Macquarie’s that we can engage inmates to pro social activities, build and foster passion and give many individuals hopes, goals and successes.
‘Macquarie Correctional Centre has developed a unique art program in which inmates are mentored and taught the finer aspects of visual art by fellow inmates who have developed their skills over a lifetime of experience. This program has had a positive therapeutic effect on inmates which has produced a great volume of wonderful expressive art. |
Wellington Arts is fortunate to have a wondrous space at the Western Gallery to facilitate an exhibition of this magnitude, to give a voice to those seeking redemption.
