Rae Ayling
I have always loved drawing and painting and after my Husband and I bought a lease on a Hotel in 2004 I met a local artist who offered to teach me a few techniques. We held ‘Art in the Pub’ on Wednesday mornings and several friends and I began drawing and painting with Paul. He introduced us to pastels, graphite, watercolour and acrylics. I sold some of my works to locals and sold paintings from a small gift shop in Wellington.
When I retired in 2012 I decided that it was time to study Visual Arts. I studied at Dubbo TAFE and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts in 2016.
I have exhibited my artwork in galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants since 2013 and have enjoyed arranging, planning, curating and hanging various exhibitions. I also like to enter artworks into Competitions as it gives me confidence to step outside the box.
My favourite genre is Painting but I enjoy printmaking and drawing as well. I thrive on challenges and like to do things a little differently with my works. I love to do workshops whenever I can to help me improve my skills. I am involved with Fresh Arts Inc.(a Dubbo art group) where I am President at this time and I recently joined Wellington Arts where I am sure I will volunteer to help out in the near future.
My favourite artists are Vincent Van Gough, Georgia O’Keefe, The Impressionists and the many artists I find myself googling on computer.
I am very interested in social media and use Facebook and Instagram regularly. I belong to several art groups on Facebook and love find out other ways to make art.
My painting goal is to find the subject matter that really rocks my boat and to be able to perfect it.
I love to sing and play Ukulele and enjoy walking and playing Croquet.
